Is online gambling legal in Senegal?
Status of online casinos, the regulator, the minimum age and where to get help, with our sources and the date we checked them.
Short answer
Online casino play is legal for residents only on LONASE or partner platforms named on LONASE's official list; all other sites are treated as clandestine. The minimum age to gamble is 18.
Legal overview
In Senegal the Loterie Nationale Sénégalaise (LONASE) holds the state monopoly on games of chance, forecasting games and similar games under Law No. 87-43 of 23 December 1987. LONASE runs the lottery products Senloto and Loto 5/90, horse-race betting (PMU) and Parifoot football pools through its retail network, and its own online betting site lonase.bet. Land-based casinos sit outside this monopoly and follow a separate authorisation regime, which was not reviewed for this page.
Online gambling is offered through LONASE and a set of partner platforms it has approved. In a communiqué published in July 2026, LONASE listed 17 authorised online platforms, among them lonase.bet, Lonase 22bet, Lonase Way, LPbet, Betclic, Melbet, Linebet and 1xBet through Service Online International. At least one listed partner, LPbet, presents itself as a sports betting and online casino platform for Senegal, so online casino games are available within the monopoly framework, although LONASE's own communiqué does not list game categories. Residents can therefore bet and play legally only on platforms named on the LONASE list.
LONASE states that any gaming platform operating in Senegal without appearing on its list is clandestine. The people behind such sites and the payment operators that process their money flows are warned that they face prosecution under the law in force, and LONASE cautions that these sites, usually hosted abroad, expose users to fraud and unpaid winnings. The communiqué does not mention site blocking or penalties for individual players. LONASE tells retailers that selling gambling to minors is prohibited and publishes responsible gambling guidance with advice on setting time and stake limits.
