What is bonus balance?

Definition and example from our casino glossary.

Definition

The bonus balance holds promotional funds separately from your real-money balance; it can be played but not withdrawn until conditions are met.

Most casinos display at least two balances while a promotion is active: real money, which comes from your deposits and cash winnings, and bonus money, which comes from the offer. The order in which they are used, and how winnings are assigned, depends on the bonus type. With non-sticky offers, real money is staked first and wins on it stay real; with sticky offers the two are pooled. Some sites also show a locked or pending bonus winnings balance that converts to cash only after wagering is completed. Knowing which balance you are betting from is essential, because requesting a withdrawal may forfeit the bonus balance, and some terms forbid withdrawals altogether until wagering is done or the bonus is cancelled. If the cashier does not show the split clearly, ask support before playing and keep a screenshot of the answer.
