What is loss limit?

Definition and example from our casino glossary.

Definition

A loss limit stops you from continuing to play once your net losses over a chosen period reach a set amount.

A loss limit tracks net results, stakes minus winnings, rather than deposits. Once losses in the period reach the limit, the account blocks further bets until the period resets. This makes it more precise than a deposit limit for players who keep a balance in the account or re-stake winnings. Operators calculate losses in different ways, for example including or excluding bonus funds, so check the definition in the account settings. As with other limits, reductions should take effect immediately, while increases are typically delayed. Loss limits are especially useful with fast formats such as slots or crash games, where losses can build up within minutes. Set them for days and weeks, not only for months, because a monthly limit can be used up in a single evening. Wager limits and session time limits are related tools worth combining with it.
