What is restricted games?

Definition and example from our casino glossary.

Definition

Restricted games are titles you may not play, or that do not count, while a bonus is active; using them can forfeit the bonus.

Bonus terms often include a list of restricted or excluded games. Two kinds exist. Some games simply contribute 0% to wagering, so play on them is allowed but does nothing to clear the bonus. Others are prohibited outright while bonus funds are active, and playing them can lead to the bonus and associated winnings being voided. Typical entries include low-house-edge table games, live dealer tables, progressive jackpot slots, slots with a very high RTP or volatility, and games with bonus buy features. Restricted lists can be long and may be updated, and casinos do not always block access technically, so the responsibility falls on the player. Before playing with a bonus, open the restricted list, compare it with the games you intend to use, and remember that the same title may appear under slightly different names or versions.
