WV Lottery licensed casinos
What the West Virginia Lottery Commission licence means for players, how to check it in the official register, and every casino in our database that holds it.
Short answer
The West Virginia Lottery Commission regulates most forms of gambling in the state, including the traditional lottery, video lottery, casino table games, sports wagering and interactive wagering, which covers online casino games. The Lottery was created after voters approved a constitutional amendment and the legislature passed the Lottery Act.
About the West Virginia Lottery Commission
Online casino sites must operate in partnership with one of the state's licensed casinos, and according to available sources they must display the Lottery Commission's official seal and check that players are located in West Virginia. Players must be at least 21. The Lottery runs a self-exclusion program that lets people bar themselves from all activities at the state's racetrack casinos and its resort casino, including the associated mobile apps and online gaming. A separate exclusion from the Lottery's own player account does not cover sports betting or online casino play. A public list of online licensees could not be found on the Lottery's website, and the complaint procedure for online players could not be confirmed against an official source.

| How to check a licence | A legal online casino must show its partnership with one of the five licensed West Virginia casinos (Hollywood Casino at Charles Town, The Greenbrier, Mardi Gras, Mountaineer and Wheeling Island) and display the West Virginia Lottery Commission seal (per gamblingmaps). No public list of interactive wagering licensees was found on wvlottery.com. |
| Complaints / ADR | Secondary sources say players should first contact the operator and can then file a formal complaint with the West Virginia Lottery Commission, which investigates disputes over payouts, accounts and rules. Not verified on an official page. |
| Player protection | The Lottery's Self-Exclusion Program lets individuals exclude themselves from all activities at the four West Virginia racetrack casinos and The Historic Greenbrier Casino, including associated mobile applications and online gaming. An exclusion from the Lottery's iPlay account does not cover sports betting or iGaming; that requires the separate self-exclusion program. Minimum age 21 (per gamblingmaps). |
