What the Eidgenössische Spielbankenkommission (Swiss Federal Gaming Board) licence means for players, how to check it in the official register, and every casino in our database that holds it.
Short answer
The Swiss Federal Gaming Board supervises casinos in Switzerland, including online casino games. Under the Federal Gambling Act, only casinos that already hold a Swiss land-based concession can apply to extend it to the internet, so the online market is small and closely controlled.
Ten online licences had been approved at the latest count found. The board publishes a list of licensed online casinos. It also keeps a blocking list of foreign and illegal gambling sites that Swiss internet providers must make inaccessible, and it adds new domains to that list regularly. Lotteries, sports betting and skill games are supervised separately by an intercantonal authority called Gespa, which keeps its own blocking list. Swiss players are not themselves punished for using unlicensed sites, but those sites offer no Swiss protection. Licensed Swiss casinos must apply social protection measures, including self-exclusion. The board's website explains how players can raise a complaint and how self-exclusion works.

| How to check a licence | Check the ESBK's list of licensed online casinos (linked from esbk.admin.ch); only Swiss land-based casinos with an approved online extension may offer online casino games, and there were ten as of March 2026. Sites on the ESBK blocking list are illegal in Switzerland. |
| Complaints / ADR | The ESBK website has a complaints page for players (linked from its homepage); detailed procedure not verified. |
| Player protection | Online casino licences are limited to existing land-based casino concessionaires. The ESBK publishes a blocking list of illegal sites that Swiss internet providers must block (2,944 domains in February 2026). The ESBK website provides information on self-exclusion. |
