DGOJ licensed casinos

What the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego licence means for players, how to check it in the official register, and every casino in our database that holds it.

Tier 1

Short answer

The Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego is the Spanish government department that regulates gambling offered across the whole country, including online casinos, betting, poker and bingo. It sits within the central government and issues the general and specific licences that online operators need before they can serve players in Spain.

About the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego

Regional governments regulate land-based gambling, while national online gambling falls to this department. Players can use its online operator search to check whether a company holds a valid Spanish licence and which web addresses it may use. Licence decisions are also published. Spain is unusual in that the regulator handles player claims itself. A player first complains to the operator. If the reply is unsatisfactory, or if there is no answer within one month, the player can file a claim with the department online or by post. The claim must include evidence and proof of the earlier complaint. The department can also open sanction proceedings and fine operators that break the rules.

How to check a licenceUse the DGOJ 'Buscador de operadores' (operator search) to find the company and its licensed web domains; licence and approval decisions are also published under 'Resoluciones'. Licensed Spanish sites normally operate on .es domains.
Complaints / ADRComplain to the operator's customer service first. If you disagree with the answer or get none within one month, file a claim with the DGOJ (https://www.ordenacionjuego.es/participantes-juego/servicios/denuncias-reclamaciones) electronically via its sede electrónica with an electronic ID or digital certificate, or on paper to C/ Atocha 3, 28012 Madrid, including proof of the earlier complaint.
Player protectionThe DGOJ itself handles player claims against state-licensed online operators. It has published guidance on general contract terms and imposes fines on licensees for breaches. Detailed bonus and advertising rules were not reviewed in this research.
