Legal situation in Tanzania
Gambling in Mainland Tanzania is governed by the Gaming Act, Chapter 41 (Revised Edition 2019), and supervised by the Gaming Board of Tanzania. The Act requires a gaming licence for any gaming business and expressly covers remote play: it defines an internet casino as a game of chance or skill played for money on a device with an internet connection, and it provides separate licences for internet casinos, internet sports betting and virtual games, alongside land-based casinos, slot route operations and lotteries.
Online casino play is therefore legal for residents when the site holds a Board licence. The Board publishes its licensees by category, and its casino register lists both land-based venues and a separate group of online casino operators. Licensed internet casinos pay a gaming tax on gross gaming revenue set in the Act, and the Act also contains a tax on winnings. Under section 70, nobody below 18 may be allowed to gamble or collect winnings, with fines and up to 12 months' imprisonment for breaches.

Check the operator's company and trade name in the Gaming Board's online casino register before playing. Licensed play is for 18+ only, and the Board's toll-free line (0800 110 051) handles gaming inquiries.
