SGA licensed casinos

What the Spelinspektionen (Swedish Gambling Authority) licence means for players, how to check it in the official register, and every casino in our database that holds it.

Tier 1

Short answer

Spelinspektionen is the Swedish authority responsible for licensing and supervising gambling in Sweden, including online casinos and betting. It took its current name when Sweden opened its gambling market to licensed private operators, replacing the earlier state-dominated model.

About the Spelinspektionen (Swedish Gambling Authority)

Any company that offers online gambling to people in Sweden needs a Swedish licence. Spelinspektionen keeps a public licence register listing every licensed operator and the web addresses of its sites, and the list can be downloaded. Sweden also has a national self-exclusion system called Spelpaus. One registration blocks the player from all licensed gambling. Responsibilities for complaints are divided between authorities. Disputes about withdrawals or winnings go to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN), which recommends how a case should be resolved, and most companies follow its recommendations. Concerns about misleading marketing or unfair terms go to the Swedish Consumer Agency. Breaches of gambling law can be reported to Spelinspektionen, which can warn or sanction operators but does not resolve individual disputes.
