Legal situation in Lithuania
Lithuania regulates gambling under the Law on Gaming (Azartinių lošimų įstatymas). Remote gambling, including online casino games and betting, may be offered only by companies holding a Lithuanian licence and permission from the Gaming Control Authority (LPT), which works under the Ministry of Finance. LPT publishes a licence register, a list of entities entitled to run remote gambling and lotteries, and an online tool to check whether a gambling website operates legally in Lithuania.
LPT publishes a list of illegal gambling operators and has access to their websites blocked. In September 2026, for example, access to Polymarket was blocked after an LPT investigation. Amendments adopted by the Seimas in November 2024 gave the authority stronger tools against illegal sites and required financial service providers to block transactions with unlicensed gambling websites. The same package raised the minimum age from 18 to 21 for land-based and online gambling, with an exception for lotteries, and raised the tax on casino games, slots, bingo and online gambling to 22%.
Online casino play is legal for players aged 21 and over on sites of operators licensed in Lithuania and listed by LPT.
Use LPT's online check to see whether a gambling website is legal in Lithuania before you sign up. You can ask not to be allowed to gamble by joining the Register of Persons Restricted from Gambling through the e-Government Gateway (Elektroniniai valdžios vartai).
